We bought this item specifically to use in the yard for BBqs etc. For that it works great goes very loud clear and good reception. We live in Satetn Island and getting reception in the house for anything is difficult (Including cell phones)so it is what i expected.
I have used it in the car while traveling as well as inside my house. Bought this item to go with a Sirius Sportster 5. Works well as long as the antenna is positioned near a window or on the dash. Easy to use. Sound is good. (Antenna cable has plenty of length). This product has met my expectations/needs.
Also when you listen to hip hop with the strong bass tracks, the radio sounds and feels like its going to break unless you turn down the volume. This boombox has a dedicated subwoofer for deep bass lines but no way to adjust the tone or bass. It kind of annoys me when I'm listening to talk radio like Howard Stern because the voices are often muffled sounding with the bass. Would be better if it had separate bass controls. Sirius SubX1 is a better radio.
On top of that, a week had passed, and the Best Buy it was purchased from would not take it back or replace it. It was not the Antenna itself which was broken.
The sound was great and had awesome bass and treble and just sounded awesome all around. I purchased the SUBX2 Boombok for my Sportster 5 Unit and for the first 4 or 5 days it seemed to work fine.
Subsequently, the Boombox could never receive a signal again and was useless. However, one day I was moving the Boombox to a different room, so I had to remove the power and antenna plugs.
When I plugged them back in, the antenna spoke on the Boombox snapped off. However, the Boombox.
Terrible product.
